MEET NIA

Nia McFerrin, MSW, CSWA

Clinical Social Work Associate

approach

As a therapist, I approach every client with authenticity, care, and deep respect for who they are and the unique experiences that have shaped them. I believe healing is a collaborative process that thrives in safe, culturally responsive spaces where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. My practice is grounded in an integrative, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming lens. I view therapy as a relationship-centered space where your story matters and your voice is uplifted. In sessions, you can expect me to show up with compassion, curiosity, and flexibility.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). These frameworks allow us to explore how your thoughts, relationships, and past experiences impact your current wellbeing, while also identifying new tools for coping, healing, and growth.

Sessions with me do not always look like traditional talk therapy. We might use art, movement, instruments or games, depending on what connects best with the goals we are working on together. What matters most to me is creating a space that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded in who you are. My role is to support you in building the skills and confidence to navigate whatever comes your way

"My role as a therapist is to hold a mirror up to each one of my clients so they may see their inner value, power and skills- that is where healing lives - you are boundless and capable of your greatest dreams."

My career has offered experience working with youth and their families who come from a variety of cultural backgrounds in educational and community based settings. Within these roles, I had the opportunity to support community members with justice involvement, developmental disabilities, relationship, end of life, gendered, poverty, intergenerational trauma among other challenges. A focus of mine is to mitigate the barriers individuals and families face that prevent their vision of a fulfilling life, often the people I have worked with have been stuck in a cycle of survival mode due to trauma they experienced. As a result, I have become adept in helping individuals and families navigate challenging systems and acquire the resources needed to thrive.

Throughout my studies, I focused on learning therapeutic approaches that honor identity, community, and resilience, particularly for marginalized youth and families.
