MEET ALYSSA

Alyssa Olson, THW, PWS

Peer Wellness Specialist

approach

When we work together, my primary goal is to get to know you, listen deeply, and offer a comfortable space where you feel truly heard, seen, known and celebrated! I tailor my approach directly to what you need in that moment - whether that means just sitting quietly with you through active listening, providing gentle feedback, body doubling through any task or offering the encouragement and "tough love" needed to tackle difficult situations.

We can start with simple, foundational self-care check-ins (like making sure you've had food or water today) before diving into deeper topics. In our sessions, you can expect practical, supportive frameworks to help you complete overwhelming tasks, a gentle ear to listen to you, and many different tactics to building confidence in any area of your life.

I believe deeply in supporting and championing you through the discomfort of growing and learning from setbacks, standing alongside you as an advocate before, during or after challenging moments. For clients who desire it, I am also open to incorporating faith-informed support and prayer into our work together.

My path to peer support is rooted in years of direct mentorship, relational care, and community leadership. I have extensive experience supporting middle school, high school and young adult populations through one-on-one mentorship, weekly small groups and intensive growth programs where I discipled and supported dozens of individuals through personal, social and spiritual challenges.

As a private nanny, I developed patience, adaptability and understanding of how to meet people where they are on difficult days. Additionally, my background as a worship director and missionary - including leading group gatherings, traveling around the world and managing an overseas outreach team - has given me a deep appreciation for diversity, active listening and celebrating each person's unique story.

My experiences in life and work have also equipped me with the tools needed to healthily walk through many different types of situations, while keeping a calm and safe demeanor.

"I always wanted someone who wouldn't be afraid to walk through the muck and mire with me and who would just stay - my hope is to be the person I wish I would have had, and to offer you a safe space to rest and just be."
