MEET JUNO

Ashley (Juno) Bishop, THW, PSS

Peer Support Specialist

approach

My approach to working with youth is grounded in empathy, respect, and authenticity. Drawing on my own lived experiences, I strive to meet each client exactly where they are, without judgment or assumptions. I believe in working alongside the youth I support, helping them identify their strengths and set their own goals based on what matters most to them. Rather than offering advice or telling them what to do, I act as a resource and a sounding board, listening actively and validating their experiences. My role is to connect them to the supports they want, help them feel less alone, and create a welcoming environment where they can speak openly about their struggles, hopes, and achievements.

Above all, I recognize that every person's journey is unique, and I am committed to honoring that individually while offering encouragement and support needed for healing and growth.

My passion for youth mental health support comes from my own lived journey, particularly my time in the foster care system, specifically through ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act) foster care. Growing up in the Portland Metro area, I navigated a diverse range of community resources from a young age, learning to advocate for myself and access support.

Although I am White, I am also a member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe Of Oklahoma. This unique perspective gives me insight into the complexities of identity and belonging, and I understand how cultural background can deeply influence one's experiences.

Throughout my childhood, I faced and overcame significant adversities, including domestic violence and other forms of abuse. There challenges have shaped my resilience and ability to connect with youth in difficult circumstances. having relied on community programs and personal connections to support my own growth, I am passionate about helping other find their open pathways to healing and success. My goal is to create an environment where each young person feels seen, heard, and empowered- No matter their background or what they are facing.
