MEET LORETTA

Loretta Shah, MS, MFTA

Marriage & Family Therapy Associate

approach

I believe in a client-centered, strengths-based approach to treatment. I believe in approaching therapy from a holistic perspective, taking into account biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual components of each individual and their unique, specific needs. I work with each client to develop mutually acceptable goals for treatment and then use an eclectic approach of family therapy, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral techniques, or a theoretical approach that best suits each client to achieve their goals.

My career path has been a colorful and diverse one that afforded me the education, background, and experiences to work with various populations and communities in the greater Los Angeles Area. I worked as a civil servant for the city of Los Angeles for 20 years including serving the houseless population and addressing their various needs and concerns. Additionally, I provided counseling services to: victims of physical, mental, and financial abuse at a family crisis center; incarcerated youths at Los Angeles Department of Corrections. I have provided GED preparation, positive skill building, group counseling, and anger management skills to name a few. I have worked in outpatient treatment centers providing service to both adult and youth populations. I have experiences with individuals, couples, families, and group therapy. I have specific focus with addiction and recovery work. wor. rance,CA.

"I know that life can be challenging, complex, and often we can feel alone in navigating through the unknown. I believe that no one should feel alone without avenues to find clarity in life and all people are unique and special with their own story to tell. I treat each client with dignity and respect, valuing each story, respecting each journey and working in collaboration with each client toward mastering their own clarity. "
